Full discosure: It took me several months to get thru this. Not because it wasn’t a great book, but because, turns out, I have a little problem with self-discipline. 🙂 I listened to the audio book (from and I typically listen to my audios on my runs. Well, I have not run since Oct, thus my audio time is now my fixing my hair time. Which, thank goodness, doesn’t take me as long as my runs. LOL!

Anyhow, since it was an audio book, I did not get to highlight and underline so that I could go back and give you all my favorite quotes. But, this book was life-changing for me nonetheless. I have to point out that it started out seeming as if it was a business book, but the last chapters were about applying the same self-discipline to your marriage and your parenting. It’s actually a book about being your very best YOU!

One of my favorite messages was the message of “responsibility”. WE are responsible for how we go about our life. Regardless of our circumstances or things that happen beyond our control, we are in control of how we respond to everything and how we move forward. Powerful. That makes us powerful!

The BIGGEST take-away I got from this book is that self-discipline is KEY to success. And self-discipline is an esteem-booster. This was powerful to me. When we don’t do what we know we ought to do, we feel bad about ourselves. Right? I know I do.

The words “Self-Discipline” are now written on my whiteboard as a reminder of how I need to go about my day in order to be successful, in all the many aspects of me.
